Hello Simon Family!
February was a whirlwind here at Simon Elementary School! We celebrated our students' and teachers' successful completion of Term 2, shared love and current school data at our First Annual Family Karaoke Night, cheered for our Simon Cheerleading Squad as the represented us well at various competitions, and honored past and present figures of Black Excellence at our Black History Month Celebration! We've had a lot going on, and we are just getting started!
As move into March, we look forward to celebrating Read Across America Month as we focus on promoting a love for reading amongst our students. We are excited for the upcoming events/activities, which we hope you will support...
- March Madness Reading Challenge: Students will participate in reading challenges requiring them to complete book logs, book reports, reading challenge maps, check out/in books from the library, and much more! Be on the lookout for more information from your child's teachers and our librarian, Mrs. Campbell.
- Story Time with Principal Eborn: I will be posting a video of myself reading a book to our students every Tuesday for you to show during your bedtime routine. Research shows that incorporating reading into your bedtime routine helps to promote deep sleep for your student and well as develop a love of reading. So...see you on Tuesdays! 🙂
- We will have a combined Math/Literacy Family Night on Tuesday, March 19th. Come out and have some fun while learning with your student. Dinner will be served and raffle prizes will be given out! Won't you come out and play with a purpose with us???!!
Lastly, we welcome you to join us for the final Parent Teacher Conference of SY 23-24 on March 14th. Please make it a point to come and learn about your student's progress and ensure your child is on track to be promoted to the next grade level! A child's progress can only be strengthened by the input of an engaged parent! More information is forthcoming.
As always, we appreciate you gifting us with the privilege of educating your student. We don't take that responsibility lightly and we are determined to make good on your investment. Don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions and/or concerns.
Know that I love you, and there's nothing you can do about it!
Let's continue to R.O.A.R. out L.O.U.D. together for our students!
Humble,
Principal Eborn
